Choose IAR CE from your FinPro balances

Start with the reporting year and remaining credits in each category. Choose Ethics only when Ethics remains, Products and Practice only when that category remains, and both only when both are needed. Check prior Course IDs before purchasing.

Read your record before selecting a course

In FinPro, review My Continuing Education, Current CE and CE History. Current CE includes incomplete years; a new completion may first fill an older deficiency. Check any earlier firm due date too. See FINRA’s illustrated guide.

For each year, note remaining Ethics and Professional Responsibility credits, remaining Products and Practice credits, and the Course IDs already completed or awaiting reporting.

Match the category to the remaining balance

Examples using remaining credits, not credits already earned
FinPro balanceWhat to review
6 Ethics; 0 Products and PracticeOne eligible Ethics course. A pair adds a category you do not need.
0 Ethics; 6 Products and PracticeOne eligible Products and Practice course.
6 in each categoryAn eligible pair may fit. Check both Course IDs first.
0 in both categoriesConfirm your status and all reporting years before purchasing more CE.
A partial balance, older deficit or uncertain entryConfirm the gap with your firm. A six-credit course may exceed what remains; do not assume excess credit carries forward.

These examples are planning guidance, not a reading of your account. Do not treat unreported completion as accepted credit or automatically buy it again.

If you also complete FINRA Regulatory Element

Ask your broker-dealer whether eligible Regulatory Element completion has been applied to IAR CE Products and Practice. Completion alone is not a reason to assume the IAR CE balance is satisfied. Confirm the application and applicable reporting-fee step with your firm or FinPro, then check the posted balance. This route does not fill the Ethics category. NASAA explains the process.

When a completion is missing or shows zero

Course completion, provider submission, and FINRA acceptance and processing are separate steps. Keep your completion documentation and confirm the transcript and status. If the record still differs, follow up with the provider and your firm; unresolved program questions can go through the official sources below. No posting time is guaranteed. See the 2026 renewal-processing guidance when a deadline is close.

$89 for an approved Ethics + Products and Practice pair (C82490 + C82507, or C82482 + C82483): 12 credits per pair. Other combinations are priced per course. Compare subject matter on the course detail pages and follow their free sample links. A label such as 25.1 or 26.1 is not your reporting year or permission to repeat a Course ID.

Required reporting fees are included; any applicable tax is shown before payment. Review eligibility, access and purchase terms, then choose your course in the student portal. FinPro determines the recorded balance; enrollment does not award credit.

Quick answers

Should I choose Ethics if Products and Practice is already satisfied?

Review an eligible Ethics course if Ethics remains. Check all reporting years and prior Course IDs before deciding.

Should I buy a replacement for a completion that is not in FinPro yet?

First ask the provider about its reporting status and any error. A pending completion is not accepted credit, but repeating a Course ID does not create another eligible completion.

Does passing mean FINRA has accepted the credit?

No. Confirm the reported course, applied credits and status in FinPro after reporting and processing.
