IAR CE · FAQ
IAR CE questions, answered plainly.
This page answers the questions students ask most about IAR continuing education: how many credits you need, who has to take it, the 2026 deadline, how reporting works and what Gulfstream CE’s courses cost. The pages linked below go into more detail.
Answers
How many IAR CE credits do I need each year?
In IAR CE jurisdictions, 12 credits each year: 6 in Ethics and Professional Responsibility and 6 in Products and Practice. The split is required.
Who has to complete IAR CE?
Every investment adviser representative registered in a jurisdiction that has adopted the NASAA model rule, whether the adviser is state-registered or federally covered. The requirement follows the IAR’s registration, not the firm’s location.
What is the 2026 IAR CE deadline?
CE is reported by the end of the calendar year. For 2026 renewal processing, NASAA’s end-of-year memo sets December 27 at 4:00 PM Eastern as the roster-submission cutoff. Later rosters are still accepted and processed, but check your FinPro status and allow time for provider reporting.
Does Tennessee require IAR CE?
Yes. Tennessee’s IAR CE rule applies from the 2024 calendar year: 12 credits, 6 Ethics and Professional Responsibility and 6 Products and Practice, reported by December 31.
Does completing a course mean my credit has posted?
No. Completion, provider reporting and accepted credit are separate steps. After verified completion the provider reports it to FINRA. Allow time for reporting and processing, then confirm your transcript and status in FinPro.
Where do I check my IAR CE status?
In FINRA’s FinPro. Your transcript shows reported courses, remaining requirements and prior Course IDs.
Are Gulfstream CE’s IAR CE courses NASAA-approved?
Yes. Gulfstream CE’s four courses are listed in NASAA’s approved IAR CE course catalog under Gulfstream Capital. NASAA does not endorse any particular provider.
What are the Gulfstream CE course IDs and prices?
C82490, C82507, C82482 and C82483, each six credits at $49. An approved Ethics plus Products and Practice pair is $89 for 12 credits.
Are the courses text-only?
Yes. They are text-only, on demand and self-paced, with a required assessment. There are no videos or live classes.
How long is access to a course?
90 days of online access from confirmed payment. Access does not extend any CE deadline.
Can I get a refund?
All sales are final, with exceptions for refunds required by law, duplicate or erroneous charges, or a course we cannot provide as described. See the purchase terms for details.
Can I retake a course for credit next year?
Generally no. Credit is given only the first time a course completion is reported, unless the course is updated and issued a new Course ID. Check prior Course IDs in FinPro.
